lambda print
100 x 100cm
Richardson is interested in "exploring a human response to the representations of reality using the poetics of drawing and photography". The work suggests that as the village globalises the significance of ones' own community, the role of the individual in that community comes into question."Using the aesthetics of decay I am attempting to explore and intentionally blur the boundary between the real of the 'media' and the imagined of the individual"
The Helen Maxwell Award went to Waratah Lahy for her work Found 2004
Dr Charles Merewether made mention of two works for commendation.

TREVELYAN CLAY IS A DUMB GENIUS.
HE IS INDEED. ONE IN A MILLION.
I thought the whole show was pretty well curated, except for 1 piece which then produced notions of ignorance within the curation.
What was the deal with placing Denis Ferris's photograph directly behind the bar (that included 2 attendants that blocked it most of the night). Talk about despicable!!!!
It should be noted that the comments about Trevelyan, were made by Trevelyan himself while at CCAS.
Denise Ferris's work was unfortunately in an area of the gallery where we place a temporary bar for openings only. This was an oversight on our behalf and Denise does derserve an apology for this.
However, it should be clear to everyone concerned that Denise's work is placed in the gallery proper, the bar is not a permanent structure and is a table we use on openings only, and most importantly that for the judging of the award the bar was not there and is not there now.
Sorry Denise - please come back!
I sit at a freakin' bar all day and the pictures here get better as the day gets longer. Don't know what all the fuss is about.
The best work is always done at the bar. I'm sure Nat and Ali would agree.
